4. Can I have myself legalized abroad?

Yes, this is possible, provided it involves a local notary who meets the conditions of our platform. You can always check this in advance with our platform notary.

However, it is not possible to describe in general terms whether legalization abroad is possible, because this differs greatly from country to country. Not all countries have notaries who are allowed or able to perform legalizations, and sometimes this is not done in a way that is sufficiently secure or verifiable. In some cases, foreign entities may also not be able to participate, because we cannot determine who is authorized to sign on their behalf.

We therefore advise you to contact the platform notary in good time if you are considering legalization abroad. In certain situations, a statement may not be allowed to be sent by email, and we may need to receive the original document.

Exception — Germany

In Germany, there are notaries who operate equivalently in this respect to Dutch civil-law notaries. German notaries can therefore perform legalizations for our platform.
